On my '89 Coupe, I could never get the parking brake to hold. This is the year that GM went to the self-adjusting parking brakes. I've replaced the rear caliper assemblies twice so far with no luck.
Parking Brake + Corvette = Have sucked since 1953 and still do in 2003. :yesnod:
1988 was the first year that the parking brake started to utilize the rear disc pads instead of the drum style brakes on the inside of the rotor. I think the proceedure for self adjustment was to pull up on the handle HARD 3 times. If this doesn't work, I dunno. :D
I had my handle replaced because it wouldn't adjust anymore. (rusted) I'm still trying to narrow down why my rear pads wear out so fast. When I had the handle replaced they had said it was because they weren't RELEASING all the way. :mad
