Default Rear window drain kit

Has anyone installed a rear window drain kit and are they needed. I do notice water in the corners after washing and usually I will use paper towels and dry it out. Drilling holes required to install. 1985 C4.

I have installed one of those drain kits. I like it a lot.

You have to be careful with the drilling. As I recall, I drilled through THREE layers to get all the way through. There was a thread here a while back where the poster didn't drill far enough and his rear compartment filled up with water (not good for the anti lock brake system).

Default water

I just take my 1985 and 1996 for a drive after washing. Check water accumulation in the hood latches.

Depending on mood, I either just use my leaf blower or air compressor to blow the water out.

I use a silicon rubber ear syringe. Keep it with the car care stuff; fewer questions to answer that way.

There are drainage openings in the bottom of the hood latch brackets. If you have any water in your bracket pockets, remove the hood latch plates and clean out the openings! While you've got the latch plates off, give the latch pivots a grease job. Removing the latch plates will not affect the alignment of the latches.

You guys can use your turkey basters, baby snot bulbs, or anything else you might think of, but the problem is still going to exist... The only way to fix it correctly ( like it should have been done at the factory) is to man up, and drill some holes in the car...... If you want to make sure you get it right, just pull the carpet down on the inside of the car where the holes will be drilled. This will allow you to see the drill bit penetrate to make sure your not hitting any wires. Drill the holes, insert the tubes with the included sealer on them, let it dry, and never ever have to worry about water in the back window again...Believe me, putting 2 more holes in the car body isn't going to hurt, and it's nice not to ever have to worry with this "Factory Defect" again.......WW

with WW7.

You can't see the drain anyway -- it's hidden by the hatch weatherstrip.

Why deal with the water when a simple mod will banish it forever? I did this mod about 10 years ago, and I'm glad I did.
