Default New Mods going in next week!

Well I was telling you all I start my new job the end of the month and as a "bonus" for finding work so quickly I've rewarded myself with the following achievement awards:

1. K&N air filter
-Should I try to do an open lid mod?
2. TB Bypass
3. Trans Go shift _enhancement_ kit.
-plan on having the tranny fluid and filter serviced at the same time.
4. Dana 36 3.54 rear ring and pinion (this is still in discussions, the only holdup is making the right choice between 3.54 or 3.73. Help?)
5. Water wetter
-plan on removing and cleaning front of radiator per glock94's excellent post.
6. Auxillary fan switch
7. 50 Bulbs for the driving lights.

This stuff should be shipped to me next week. Thursday the vette goes to shop to have the diff, and trans go installed....

Sweet!

very nice :)

if you drive a lot on the freeway you may want to stay away from 3.73s.. i have 4.11s in my '86 IROC-Z (A4) and i revved about 3000rpm at 65mph..

Great list of mods. I'd do the open air box, it's worth it. Trans-Go is a great mod, I have it in my SS. But with the stock torque converter you'll want to stay with 1 washer on the 1-2 accumulator, the stiff stock converter will make the shift really stiff. When you change to a looser TC, you'll want to add a second washer. I'd go with the 3.73 if you're looking for performance, it'll take a sub 12 second Vette to outrun the 3.73.

While your having the Trans-Go installed, think about starting the switch over to Mobil! trans fluid. You'll need about 7 quarts with the install, this will change about 1/2 the total fluid.

You're gonna love your Vette even more after your mods. The bad part is you'll be looking for more within a month, but that's why we work, right?

Eric

If you want a quicker 1/4mi ET, then 3.73.
If you have to drive the car alot on the hwy, then 3.54.
Neither should drop your mpg much.

Looks like a cool list of mods. Did the K&N and open airbox and noticed a real "seat of the pants" difference.

It really depends on the type of driving you do and how often you drive the car. If your primarily and around town type and limit your highway time, I'd go with the 3:73's. If your on the highway a lot, I'd personally go with the 3:54's.

My 87 is primarilly a weekender but I like to hit the highway when I go so I'm going to the 54's.

From what I understand, with the auto, you should see a significant improvement.

Another relatively inexpensive mod is the removal or "modification" of the cats... :D

Not that I'd suggest any thing improper, but....

Sound like fun...Good luck
