I just picked up the timing chain set listed above for $69 NIB from someone on another site. Also, bought everything I need to log/emulate/tune and burn chips from another forum member. Just need to figure out how to tune...

I may go for better 1.5 roller rockers than the ones listed above.

The lt4 Hot Cam kit is starting to look nice because it included everything. Contemplating buying the lt4 hot cam kit and selling off the cam. I would like to use the Lunati cam, but not sure how it plays with the kit's 1.6 rockers and springs.

$403.76 is the best price i could find for the lunati cam and valve springs, retainers and locks.

I'll buy this stuff in a couple days unless I get feedback on a better deal out there...

Currently running the CompCam XF262 with 1.6 roller tips.
Motor is stock TPI
Big pickup in power, dropped about 2 mpg and has the perfect growl at idle.

I'm on the cam express run away train... to much to think about here...

Anyways, I know "C4in mesa" is very happy with his 08-501-8 cam and one deciding factor for him was not needing reprogramming.

I started looking at it and the 08-502-8 instead of the Lunati. I have a AutoProm (APU1) programmer coming and I'm very anxious to play around with it on the car. So I think the 08-502-8 may be a better choice for me because it gives me a reason to play with the programmer.

Do you see any issues with this cam and my setup? What size RR would you recommend with it, 1.5 or 1.6? I'm thinking that it also gives me more flexibility later when I upgrade the intake.

Should I just get off the train now and stick with the Lunati? Keep it simple (and maybe cheaper) and go with the LT4 hot cam?

After much deliberation I pulled the trigger and ordered the Lunati Cam, springs, retainers and locks. I also went ahead and ordered a B&M shift kit. I decided not to spend $300 on roller rockers just yet for a few reasons:

1: I can run the stock rocker arms for now
2: I have a set of 1.6 proform RR that I may use to test performance before deciding if I should buy 1.5/1.5, 1.5/1.6 or 1.6/1.6 RR.
3: I would rather use the $300 towards a new intake manifold since the intake has to come off to change the cam. The RR will be easier to change later than the intake.

Here's what I ordered:
The Lunati Voodoo Part Number: 20080720 (60120) $299.97

Please email me your results on this particular cam and how it runs with the stock ECM. I'm considering buying another 1988-89 C4.

Will do.

One of the reasons I chose this cam is that it already has a good amount of lift with just the 1.5 rocker arms, leaving room to upgrade to 1.6 later if needed.

RDI, did you install the cam and if so what were the results? I am about to install this same cam in my 90 and am curious how you like the cam now.

Default Won't leave you guys hanging on some feedback

I know it's been years since I added to this thread, but it's almost time to put that lunati cam in... I picked up some other goodies...

AFPR Installed
1000 CFM Lingenfelter throttle body installed just because the stock one broke
March underdrive crank, water pump and alt pulleys installed
cs144 140amp alternator
Ported plenum installed
Ported and siamese Edelbrock runners installed
Ported and gasket matched Edelbrock intake not installed
ZZ4 aluminum heads with crane 1.5 roller rockers not installed
aluminum performance water pump not installed
scott hansen tune installed, but I'll need another tune after the cam

I just sent FIC an email to see which fuel injectors they recommend for my combo so that I can buy a set before the heads go on.

Thanks everyone for all your help picking parts. I'll post a couple pics of the c4 in a new thread I'll start. I have a 4spd c3 and honestly, have always liked that car better, but this c4 is getting to look and drive to my liking.

The ZZ4 heads are the same as the stock ones from 87 thru 91 with the exception of stronger springs good to .525. The 1000 CFM TB is way to big. Send it back and get a 52 MM or you will have an off idle hesitation.

I got a deal on the 1000 CFM TB when I bought the edelbrock used. I broke a few bolts on the stock TB and didn't want to mess with them so I just threw on the 1000 CFM TB. I couldn't find a new 48mm TB, and I wasn't sure if a 52mm was still too big. But based on your feedback, I'll look for a 52mm TB.

Jon at FIC recommended that I use 30# injectors with my combo. I'm going to email him and ask if he still recommends them that big with a 52mm TB.

Thanks again.

Proform Aluminum RR??? "DO NOT" use them. They are the CHEAPEST hardened fulcrum & bearings ever!!! Many years ago I tried them. the bearings turned into powder and through the oil it went. they only survived a few thousand miles. Same with a buddy of mine. And no there was nothing wrong with our setups. they will NOT clear larger VS. I even milled them to clear. Proform was very honorable. gave me a new set. two of them the roller tips were locked up. straight out of the package. They replaced them. I sold them on ebay. good customer service. but. not worth destroying your motor. saving a few dollars.

After reading some other bad stories about the Proform RRs, I decided not to go with them. Plus they were 1.6 RR and a little too much with my lunati cam. I now have a set of crane cams gold 1.5 RR that will go on it.

This weekend I'm installing remanufactured Bosch 3 24# fuel injectors and a BBK 52 mm throttle body. I just bought a barely used BBK 1534, I'm hoping it works well with my setup. My plan is to get it running well and then throw the new cam, heads, intake and retune again after that.

I'm just learning and having fun with this car.

Default installing motor parts...

I dropped the C4 at my buddy's house and he started to install the new motor parts

Dropped it off with the new upper intake upgrades installed

runners removed

old intake removed

Stock cam came out

new Lunati cam in with new timing chain in

rebuilt zz4/113 heads went in with crane roller rockers and new water pump installed

edelbrock hi-flo manifold on

I'll probably need a new tune after this one
