Can someone point me in the right direction? Which ones will provide the most gains. Long-tube headers will provide more power up top and thats what i want, but don't want to loose all the cats. Brands?

Re: Headers On LT1 (BlackonBlack)
Despite the nay sayer's to shorties. There's got to be a good reason LPE includes them into their LT-1/LT-4 packages and still bring in over 400 ponies.
TPIS are at http://www.TIPS.com .
I have one car with the TPIS and one with the Hookers long tubes for L98. They are both L98 headers and make about the same good power on the LT1. The Hookers are cheaper and they clear the spark plugs better. When performance is equal, go for clearance. :)
They are both pretty easy to do. The Hookers, you will have to flip the motor pount bolt around and slip them in from the other direction, which is really pretty easy to do. They will both slide in from the bottom. :)
I heard a rumor (maybe just an 'urban legend') that the TPIS long tube headers are tougher to fit on a convertible LT-1 (the only issue I can think of is the X-brace on the underside, maybe the collector ends where the X-brace begins).
Has anybody else heard about this? Does naybody have long tube headers on a convertible LT-1? If so, what brand long tubes are you using.
Guys...I know someone who is selling a set of New TPIS ceramic long tubes. :yesnod:
He is asking $700+shipping...he paid $750+shipping for them. Have never been on the car. Matter of fact, they are sitting on my garage floor.

Dude...Yes, there is a reason $$$. :yesnod: All I know is my car dynoed the same with and without the shorties. :yesnod:
I'm going with the long tubes.
I'm running the Hookers. I'd recomend getting them uncoated, locating O2 sensor bungs in the proper positions in the collectors, then have them coated.

I HAVE A PAIR OF HOOKERS SHORTY HEADERS ON MY 95 SIX SPEED LT1.
it take about four hours to install them in the car.
you have to protect from the infra red all around the headers with aluminium or asbestos paper.
the results are:
1 more torque from idle to 5000 rpm
2 the engine jump to the rev. limit. quickly.
3 avoid crying when you change the spark plugs
4 good look for your engine compartment.
