Sorry if this has been beaten to death---- I tried to search, but didn't have much luck..
I'm working on my first C4 and I'm wondering about the best ways to lift the car and put it on jackstands. I read in a magazine where someone recommended lifting the entire left or right side and placing jackstands, then doing the other side to raise the whole car.
How about just the front (or rear, for that matter)? Where could I place a floor jack to lift the entire front (or back) end without putting undue stress on any part of the car? Thanks!
Re: Question about proper C4 lifting technique (needanother1)
I do one side at a time. I locate my floor jack right in the middle of the car's side between both jack points and make sure the jack pad's lip is just catching the frame (there are some lines to be careful of). I jack that side to the minimum height of my jack stands and set it down on them. Then I go to the other side and do the same thing but jack it to the final height and set it down on them. Finally I go back to the first side and jack my Vette level. To lower the car I reverse the procedure.
Re: Question about proper C4 lifting technique (needanother1)
I've got a Lincoln floor jack, supposed to be one of the lowest floor jacks available, my Vette is at stock ride height, but I can't get my jack under there. The other option is the Rhino ramps. I'm too cheap, besides, I don't find it that hard to jack the front up one corner at a time when I just want the front up in the air.

rhino ramps for the front (cost you about $30 at the local autozone) and if you position the floor-jack just right underneath the car after the front is on the rhino ramps there will be enough room to put the jack stands on the rear
