Just noticed the rear outer axle spindles have an ABS ring on them. Is the ring pressed on or part of the spindle? Are 84/85 spindles compatible with an ABS car?

Spindles are part #'d as '84 - '85 and '86 - '87. I don't have any '86 - '87 spindles or the earlier to check but I would say the non - ABS could not be used with the later '86 - '87. There was an inner seal for the '84 - '85 that isn't used on the ABS units and I expect that sealing surface became the mounting diameter for the ABS ring/wheel so maybe/just maybe they could be either used or be able to be machined to be used. I've never seen the ring/wheel offered by any of the after-market sources that offer them. There either may have been or maybe still is but I've never needed or seen them.
Yah looks like their is 3 types 84-85, 86-87, 88-96. Don't really see any seals, just the large washer. Wonder how hard the ring comes off an 86? Maybe a semi cut and a good smack with a hammer n chisel.

What is your interest in removing the ABS ring. Your car is an '86 and the ring likely provides a "required dimension" for assembly. I can assure you that an '84 and '85 have an inner seal. ABS rings or tone wheels have been sold in the after-market for years as a service part but I've never seen one offered for "wheel-speed" from GM. It's always been part of a greater assembly.
Car will be used for drag race. I'll be removing the abs and the ring is just another part I don't need and rotating mass. I know small diff, but death by a 1000 cuts!
