Default Water temp always displays "LO" on 87, Sensor Problem or what?

On my 87 my water temp display always shows "LO" on the display. I have never seen an actual numeric value. I noticed my oil temps will show low but only for a short time after I start the vehicle and start driving, then I get a numeric value. So Im assuming the water temp should work the same way. Do I have a bad or possibly disconnected sensor? Where is the sensor located? At what temp is the display suppose to start showing a numeric value instead of "LO"?

The sender is in one of the heads and if I remember correctly, it is just opposite of what the manual says. Manual says driver side, so might check the passenger side, between the #6 and 8 cylinders. Good Luck

:yesnod: The connection on that is not real tight on mine. I have to reconnect that thing every time I mess with the spark plugs. If that gets unplugged the coolant temp will read "LO".
