Best way to replace outer window seals?
Hey guys, I have a 94 coupe and I need to replace the window seals. Using the service manual, it told me that I had to pry the courtesy light out of the door, along with everything else, just to take the door off to get to the window seals. I am wondering if there is an easier way to do it. Also, I do not have a rivet gun, perhaps there is another way to affix the seals to the windows? Thank you for your help.

Just get a cheap rivetgun at walmart. When you are drilling out the old rivets, put a piece of vacumn hose over the drill bit so only a small portion of the drill head is showing. This wil stop you from drilling into the outer door shell. :cheers:

You can get a nice pop rivet gun at Sear along with the pop rivets. Use Al rivets as they pull much easier than steel.
Be careful when drilling out the rivets so as to not enlarge the holes. Just drill out the rivet heads.

There was a post about someone that did the whole thing from the top without pulling the door panel. He cut the old rivets with a chisel from the top and I don't think he riveted the new glass seal in place, just relied on the clips. Scares me. :eek:

I have a rivet gun and live about 30min from you.. You could come over here on a weekend.. I will get a bunch of vette guys to come over here to hang out, while we dso the work. We will have to pull both door panels to do it. I have done them on my car without problems.
All it will cost you is parts and Lunch :cheers:

Okay, I think I will go out and buy a pop rivet gun in the near future. I read the way of replacing the seals without taking off the doors and it confused and frightened me. Looks like its off to Sears!....tomorrow.
