last year I dumped a lot of money and time fixing some minor problems addressing some potential future problems and upgrading the cooling and ignition system and all this was mostly directed at the front of the car.
This year I plan on addressing the rear part of the car which will include replacing all the u joints and having the shafts balanced. I also have a tell tale sign of some oil seepage around the pinion seal on the rear end that I will take care of as well as replacing the gear lube.
Can anyone recommend a good brand of u joints? I want to stay away from the chinese made ones if at all possible. And any recommendations on what else I should service or inspect for would be appreciated.
I have a 92 LT1 with 82000 mi.
with Spicers for U-joints , Moog usually makes great u-joints also...Wiggle the tires up and down and side to side to check for any looseness in the wheel bearings.. If you can detect "any" movement at all, it's time to replace those also..For wheel bearings ( Timkin) makes a real good bearing at a reasonable. price....WW

I forgot about Spicer but know they make good products.
One of the big retailers in town and online sell Lakewood products, are they any good? I know that they have been around the hi perf biz for a while.
DennysDriveshaft.com has a great deal on a spicer ujoint kit that includes new bolts, caps, end clips, and four halfshaft solid(no grease hole makes them stronger) ujoints. Several members have used them and the site is highly recommended. I bought them last spring and had a good experience using their product. The site is slow but the deal is worth it.
I had Spicers on my 85 for a year and they fell apart with occasional driving so they are hit or miss. Others seem to have better luck. Replaced them with some units with the grease nipple and they still feel strong after about 9 months.
