Can you ID this wire????
I found this loose wire melted to the passenger side manifold and when I moved it and tried starting the car, it was causing a short. I need to know where this is supposed to go. Thanks again for your help.

Since it's on pass side, it's not coolant temp. It looks like it would go to something close to the starter, so I assume it's a knock sensor. I can't find any diagrams of the knock sensor wiring, can anyone help with that? From what i have read it should go to a wire in the loom coming from starter, is that correct?

I can't seem to find a diagram for this, can anyone help. It seems like it would be the knock sensor, it's located on passenger side on block. I can't find where the other end of the wire is so I need to see a diagram of what sensors are on that side. From what I understand the temp sensors for are on intake (for ecm) and drivers side block (for temp gauge). I ordered a shop manual so when it gets here I won't have to keep bugging everyone. Thanks again.

Thanks Ccrazor!! I went underneath the car and I see the knock sensor wire is blue (?) and it's cracked and fried just hanging down by the starter. This brown wire I show must be a temp sensor wire but I cant see any temp switch by the dipstick, might need a flashlight. I am starting to think this car is a basket case!! I rewired the fan relay (previous owners took the blue wire on fan relay and spliced to a orange wire heading to front of car) and I cleaned up some vacuum lines and now car runs like crap and barley stays running with a very bad miss and hesitation.
