Default CODES 23 and 34

I have the 1985 vet out this weekend and I was sitting at a light and noticed that the service eng light was on. I checked the codes and I got 23 and 34. im sure someone here will same me a lot of time and money in parts. im almost sure is going to be one of three parts Mass airflow sensor, TPS, or intake temo sensor.

Thank you

Fix the 34 first, I'd imagine the 23 will disappear after that.

Can a auto parts store check the mass airflow sensor on a machine like they do with say a ignition module?

btw testing on car is easy, just read the pdf code 34,just 2 trial with maf connected and disconnected ,if you result in a 33 code you have a faulty maf...

I am at work right now but when I get home I will try it. I have a feeling the mad is bad because the silicone gasket on the body is peeling and its not like gm cars aren't know to eat them like candy.

'85s don't have MAF power and burnoff relays, as shown in the link.

They have a MAF burnoff module. It has one relay in it that does both the power and burnoff functions. That might affect the troubleshooting process...

Yes and the module is buried inside the dash, but studying the procedure should show to eliminate one culprit.

i've seen the other thread you open where you talk about 23- 32,do you still have code 34 or was it cleared ?

if not you have still code 23-32-34,even after replacing the MAF ,do you confirm?

if you solved the 34 code with new maf, then yo still have 23-32 codes.

code 32 is a EGR system failure

code 23 is manifold air temperature (mat sensor) signal voltage high.

i'll post some pics from my 85 FSM
