I have the 1985 vet out this weekend and I was sitting at a light and noticed that the service eng light was on. I checked the codes and I got 23 and 34. im sure someone here will same me a lot of time and money in parts. im almost sure is going to be one of three parts Mass airflow sensor, TPS, or intake temo sensor.
i hope your MAF is good...anyway ceck the maf power relais/connector,and the signal terminal 998/ dk green to terminal b12 on ecm connector for short to ground or bad contact...
btw testing on car is easy,just read the pdf code 34,just 2 trial with maf connected and disconnected ,if you result in a 33 code you have a faulty maf...
I am at work right now but when I get home I will try it. I have a feeling the mad is bad because the silicone gasket on the body is peeling and its not like gm cars aren't know to eat them like candy.
'85s don't have MAF power and burnoff relays, as shown in the link.
They have a MAF burnoff module. It has one relay in it that does both the power and burnoff functions. That might affect the troubleshooting process...
I got the vacume tester and went to pump it down and well it wouldn't pump down ....probly a bad diafram...should I do the fuel pressure reg when I pull the plentim off again ?
