The passenger's side window just stopped while trying to raise the window the other day. Fuse seems to be fine, and the driver's side still works. I don't hear any noise from the motor when the switch for the window is pressed up or down. Any suggestions? Hope the motor didn't crap out on me. Thanks.

Re: 84 Power window just stopped ... (yoslambo1@cs.com)
Actually I replaced the ribbon about two months ago, it was more a test of patience than difficulty. I know it's not the ribbon, because the window isn't falling and I cannot lift the window with my hand, and even when the ribbon was broken I could hear the motor trying and I don't hear that now. Does anyone know if the window switches go bad or anything along those lines? Or how do I test to see if the motor is shot?
I just went thru this, if you pull the door panel you can test the plus for power. I think you might even be able to just get the door insert out without removing the panel. I just pulled it as I was going to upgrade to the new style regulators anyway. Hope that helps, but mine was a dead motor.
Sounds like the motor has seen better days. My window did the same thing.
Before I went out and bought a replacement motor I would check the switch. I had the same problem some time back with the driver's window and discovered the problem to be the switch.
