another stupid question
hey guys thanks for being so patient with me as i am still learning engines and vetts but i have another qeustion. in the lt1/4 engines, say you have a lt4 with the stock cam.... it takes a lot more work and probably money to tear an engine down and put in a hot cam right? well what if you were to keep the stock cam in the lt4 and take off the stock heads and have them ported and polished? aporx how much hp would that add? anywhere near as much as a hot cam? Another thing i have been trying to figure out is do cams put out most of the low end horsepower? while the heads help deliver most of the top end? or am i just dreaming this? hope somebody can help me shed some light on this subject. thanks again for being so patient with me

the cam is the secret to hp numbers, its best to get the cam out while you have the heads off for porting because you have to take the heads off anyway.
Ive seen that porting of LT heads brings around 20hp, whereas a cam can take you almost anywhere you want to go.
