'85 a/c wire

'85 a/c wire
This is gonna be vague since I don't have my manual with me but I'd like to fix this tonight so here goes....
There is a pair of wires (one red and one black) that run from ? to the left side of the a/c compressor just above the drive belt (IIRC they go to some clean air switch??). The wires broke, I got a new connector but neglected to note which side which wire was on. The old connector is gone, new connector doesn't have leads...anyone know if the red wire should be closer to the windshield or the radiator than the black wire.

Hopefully I've got the right connector. If it attaches from the bottom to the round unit on top of the compressor, and the wires are two condutor each then the red goes to the w/s side and the black goes toward the radiator.
