what ohm reading should I get on my 85 cold start valve, it's disconnected and off the motor. Will the reading tell me if it needs to be cleaned?
Thanks

No more than smelling the oil to tell if it needs to be changed.
If you want to do a guarantee operational check.
With the injector removed, plug it in the harness and drop/hold it in a small container.
Try to start the engine to see if it works.
Unlike the other injectors, this one just shoots fuel to richen the mixture for starting.
Cleaning is most likely not the problem.
I measured my cold start injector at 5.1 ohms. Resistance that low is hard to measure accurately, so expect quite a bit of leeway on that reading (like as high as 10 ohms or so).
The cold start injector has heftier windings than the regular injectors and you can apply 12 volts to it continuously for testing. The regular injectors are designed to be pulsed and the windings will overheat if 12 volts is applied continuously.
was your cold start injector still good? I'm replacing my fuel injectors due to some problems and while I have everything apart I want to make sure that my CSI is still good before I install it. I found that Jon can clean it if it needs to be. If its not good do I have any other alternatives
I measured the cold start injector on the car and yes, it is good.
I had a problem several years ago where the coolant hose that goes to the throttle body leaked on the cold start thermo switch and corroded the contacts. I was checking everything related to the cold start injector.
