Default Creaking in reverse...not U joints

I posed a question a while back about my car creaking in reverse after I drive it for a little while. This started after a differant rear end was put in. I was told to check the U joints. I had them checked out today and they are good. What else could cause this? Thanks.

Is it a creaking or a tapping. A creaking is what I would call a bushing gone or going bad in either the rear end cover ends, or the trailing arms. A tapping can be caused by the spindle having a little rust in there. You can clean it out and put some anti seize in there and it will usually take care of the tapping, or ticking sound.

EDIT: It could also be caused by the torque arm (big aluminum brace between the tranny and the rear end) not being torqued properly.

It's deffanatly a creaking. So if its a bushing gone in the rear end cover ends or trailing arms is that serious? Can it be driven or fixed right away?

Probably good to check them real good, but it is probably OK to drive it. I would check the torque on the rear end bolts though. They may be a little too loose allowing more flex in the bushings. Just guessing though without being able to see what it really is.

I'm waiting this minute for the final word on mine. It had a creaking noise in the right rear when making a slow left or right turn and only after the car had been driven a several miles.
