C4 TCC problems
I own an '86 C4 coupe, with 130K miles. Most of the time the TCC does not engage. When it does, it works fine, maybe for 10 mins or so. When it is working, the instant mpg readout also is working. When the TCC drops out and stays out, the mpg readout freezes. The ECM stores a code "14" when asked to replay via connecting terminals A and B on the ADL. The actual temperature readout is around 196F, but i think the fan is staying on all the time. When the TCC engages, I sense the fan has swithed off, and temp rises, often to 230F or so before the fan cuts back in. I have fitted a new engine coolant sensor, new O2 sensor, new egr, new IAC (at least it idles properly now !), and have measure the resistance of the engine coolant sensor near to where its "yellow" wire feeds the ECM at arounf 250 ohms at 190F, which I think is about right.
Maybe coincidence, but grounding the A/B connectiosn does not always get the service engine light to "blink", and for sure it does not repeat the decoding flashes. No nearby scan tool in Wales, I'm afraid !. Suggestions welcome.
