Honestly guys, turn off the egr, and air and it should be good. If the VE tables are worked smooth there should be no hard start. Open loop tables work off closed loop learned function which should smooth out. Yes, it does default to an open loop map above 91.9 KPA or WOT, but otherwise it's closed loop operation. Starting should be based of last shutdown plus added start parameters. Sounds like $700 bought inexperience that may know OBD2, but is lost in old speed density.

Playsdixie, you can do this yourself really. See here:

There's some software cost outlays, or if you datalog I'll help you.

thanks so much for the info...but bear with me a little...although I install automated wiress control systems for pool equipment, i'm not that computer friendly...you are saying I can hook a laptop up to my car..and read what the tuners see?....aside from a laptop, what is the relative cost of the software?....and any other equipment.....is it user friendly?.....and of course..."datalog"????j....thanks...Paul ...

The Moates cable is $80, and the software is free for the first 20 datalogs, and $90 if you want to buy it. I like modifying my bins using Tunercat which I believe is about $100, and the Moates burn2 for burning you're own chips is another $80. So, for $260 you can do it yourself. More importantly, is for what you paid it should be perfect. Cold starts should be perfect after smoothing the fuel maps. All of this is shown on my links page. Myself, and many here can always help too. If you read the page I created it takes you step by step on how to tune speed density. It doesn't include custom spark tables based on different cam profiles, but yours should operate well on a stock one.

What is the TPS value at normal (600rpm) idle?
What is base timing set at?
Did you add an AFPR to bump fuel pressure or do all the bumps in chip?

From the dyno tune plot what is the A/F ratio?

What year Vette?
