Default Unknown Switch

I removed the B&M MegaShifter form my 86 Vette that the former transmission guy installed. During installation of a different ratching shifter I found a switch that I can not identify on the passenger side of the shifter console, it was just sitting there. What is it used for? It not neutral safety or back up

Thanks for your assistance

Steve

it is either used to keep the car from cranking unless in park. Or as a back up light switch. easy way to find out is to turn the key to run check to see it you have B/U light if you dont depress the switch and see if you do. If that does not make a difference tyr cranking the car over if it cranks depress the switch and see if it still cranks

The P/N indication to the ECM so it adjusts the RPM when put into gear ?
