does your model take the ring? I believe mine are the 3, yellow, and they do not.
send a pm to Jon.
add: just checked and the 3 model does not take the lock clip. if you don't have the instruction ask Jon to send them. the 3 go in the intake first.

Yes mine are yellow and I don't have the instructions, I'll give Jon a call in the morning.
Thank You
I've installed 2 sets of Bosch 3s in my car, one set in my stock engine and one set in my 383...No locks are required , they just pressure fit and Jon puts a O-ring on the bottom to set the depth...Just remember to use some Vasaline or oil to lube the O-rings before you put them in or you can roll the O-rings over and get a leak..If you go to Jons site he has a video showing how to install the injectors.......WW

I asked the same question of Jon a few years ago. He stated that the locking rings are used so that the injectors do not fall out of the fuel rails during the production run. The rails and installed injectors came down an overhead line and the vibration of the line along with gravity would cause the injectors to fall out. He said they do not need to be replaced during replacement.

If you didn't have the clips the injector would fall into the intake and leak at the rail (not all, but some). As with most salesmen it is a good story though. With the type III's someone came up with the added o-ring which was superior to cutting down the mounting bosses and lowering the rail.

False...It's a known fact that the clips were used for assembly line purposes only, from many discussions on this forum and other Vette forums.

That "Someone", was member FIC (John Banner), who came up with the idea to add the extra O-ring to make the Bosch III's fit the C4 Vettes Intake Manifold.

Been there. Had that happen to me.
I took out my injectors to have them cleaned and flow tested. I broke one of the retainers and figured "where could they go -- they're captive between the fuel rails and the intake manifold". Wrong! That one injector leaked at the rail. When I pushed it up into the rail the fuel pressure pushed it right back out again. I bought a new clip at an outrageous price from the local Chevy dealer and no more leak.
f.w.i.w., I just looked at an old pic of my Accel's I installed about 15 years ago, but it looks like I transferred my old clips to the new Accel's. Don't know if I had to or just did it. One thing I do remember is getting it all back together and finding out I nicked one of the O-rings on the fuel rail and gas shot out about 10 ft.
