My next project is to fix the windows that don't move. On the Drivers side I hear clicking when I use the switch so I assume a bad motor. I took the door skin off, what is the proper way to remove the assy? I did a search and couldn't find anything on a 84. Thanks
replace it with a later style regulator. Requires some drilling, tho.
you need to remove the door card, then the metal plate, get it out of the way and the regulator will then come out. The bolts that hold the glass may require a special tool.
I haven't done this in a while, but I do have the 1984 Service Manual... let me check that later tonight.
I totaly agree bougs go with the newer system it will save you a lot of trouble. It probley is not as involved as replacing the ribbon and motor you have now
Carefully drilling int corvette from ground to get the
Holes straight up. Also I made use of the existing hole and put a door stop
Bumper made of a 2in piece of heater hose. Cut it longways
And open it up drill a hole in the rubber.
Put it with a nut and bolt into your leftover hole
And let the rubber fold back over the nut.
Was kind of fun but shop around for a nice regulator.
