I have these a.r.e. wheels on my 85....just can't get them to polish good...thinking about getting them restored....or just buy a newer set...can't find them on any a.r.e. site...does anyone know if these were any good???....and...is it a two part wheel....I thought those little nuts were decorative.....thanks....Paul

I guess that's the issue...what the heck takes that clear coat off....store cleaners. even scrubs had no effect.....acetone didn't touch it.......perhaps you know......Paul

220-320-400-600-800 than 1000 wet dry and 0000 steel wool and polish takes time but well worth it.

They are a "knockoff" version of a BBS wheel from back in the '80s. The nuts are not holding the wheel together. They were popular back in the day. For what it would cost to have them restored by a pro shop you may be better off buying new wheels or buying a set of early C4 turbines like DanZ51's and polishing them yourself.
i've tried aircraft stripper twice...several buffing wheels...no success yet.
guess I'll start with light sandpaper and work up....new wheels are looking better and better....
