Default screwed up the starter wires i think?

Getting closer to getting this thing to run again. I ran into a problem. I was going to connect the negative terminal to my battery and its sparked like crazy. I think i wired the started power cable to a transmission bolt on accident

Does anyone know what wires go to the starter exactly?

The main wire from the battery is black , plus I believe at least one red fusible link to the large solenoid stud and a smaller purple wire to the "s" terminal..

On my 89 all the wires in the harness go to the large stud, except the purple ( small) ignition wire goes to the small stud.( As in the picture above)..WW

I looked through the FSM and found that the small red wire is actually fusible link K. It is used for the HVAC blower fan.

If C60 it goes to the fan relay.
If C68 it goes to the blower control module.

The op might want to do a load check on the battery. I did a good sparky years ago and it killed a cell in the battery.

Default I screwed up mine too

I got a big old thick black wire that I can extend to both the passenger and drivers side it’s pretty long. I’m not sure where it goes, can someone share pics of their starter wiring on an 87 and help me solve the black wire issue?
