Default NEEDS STICKY! 1995 LT1 Front seal replacement WITHOUT engine removal

Okay, so I discovered my front main seal is leaking last night. I watched some tutorials online yada yada and it seems that on the lt1 it can be removed without pulling the timing cover as they have relocated the installation point of the seal from behind the cover to the front. Okay, no problem, until you actually LOOK and see that on the vettes there about 2 inches of room if that in front of the crankshaft pulley, and definitely no room for a puller to get in there. NOW. I DID stumble upon an article from 2003 here about this where they used a special puller. This is the link http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-t...g-the-pan.html HOWEVER the link to the site is dead. I was heading from southern california to seattle washington and now am stuck mid state cali in Fresno. I figure itd be easy from the bottom until I realized the area is totally boxed in there. what do I do!? -Colt

Ibstill dont see how it will work because the driving bolt in the center still appears too long to clear the box frame in front of the motor. :/

I believe I read somewhere about raising the engine up with a jack and a block of wood under the pan. This is after unbolting the motor mounts and c beam from the trans. With the engine raised there should be enough room to remove the hub.

I probably will be changing the cam but not until this summer so I won't know until then how exactly I will be doing it.

no need to unbolt c beam; engine only has to come up an inch or so; have swapped out cam with engine in car; also rolled in new main and rod bearings, new oil pump, new timing chain, new seals in timining chain cover. If yours is an LT engine check the bearing located in front of block for water pump drive; excessive play here will mean timing chain cover water pump seal failure.

I use a normal steering wheel puller to pull the balancer hub on my 94, should also work on your 95. Also, no need to raise the engine.
