Default Total Corvette Noob Question

Here's hoping there are some members on the forum tonight who are smarter tnan me. I am in the middle of changing out the clutch master and slave cylinder on the 94 six seed coupe. I am taking my time - this is not my daily driver and I am not under the gun to get it done. Too cold here still, anyway. I have everything swapped out, but I am second guessing my slave cylinder installation. The reason being, I know that the rod has to go into the pocket on the clutch release arm, but to get the cylinder up on the studs, I had to compress the rod towards the rear of the car to get it installed. Is this correct? Of all the reading I have done on the subject, no one has said that they had to compress the rod to complete the installation. I would like some feed back before I skinny back under there and take it down again if needed. I do have a Pheonix reverse bleeder at my disposal after everything is back together and I hope this will get all of the air out and get it bled properly.

Okay, you that have done this before, chime in and let me sleep better tonight. Thaks in advance for all the responses.

Yes, the push rod compresses as you install the slave on the bell housing studs. Just make sure that the pushrod is in the pocket. The resistance helps to keep it in place while you tighten it down.
