Default 1994 Sluggish acceleration in overdrive

When the car is cold it will sometimes sputter between 35 and 45 miles per hour, but when its in drive the problem isn't there.
Is this a fuel filter or a catalitic converter problem? or something else?
the problem comes and goes, i did just replace the distributor, thermostat, oxygen sensor, and had the ram air cleaned.

if you are saying that your car sputters in OD at 35 mph...its SHOULD !

1st...it SHOULD never be in ODgear below 55-60 mph. You CAN drive around with the stick in OD and drive city just fine. The TCC has different function in OD vs DR. If your trans is upshifting into the OD gear at 35 mph...that's killing the engine. That's wayyyyy to low speed for that tall of gear.

The TCC tells the trans (auto) when in OD to upshift and feather the drive as needed. The DR or 3rd position tells the TCC to lock-in the trans so its a direct drive and has the feel of a stick. That's the only difference in those 2 selector positions. In 3rd (dr) the engine stays locked in when decelerating until the brake is applied OR until its gets down to the stall speed of the mid teens. Mine stays locked in down to 1100 OR until I touch the brake pedal.
if the car is sputtering with the stick in OD but the trans is in 3rd gear...that's coincidence. If you're trying to pull a gear that's too high for the rpm, hell yeah its gonna sputter. Some even break.
