84 head replacement
I have an 84 that has a cracked head. I can get a set of heads casting number 14022601 for free I know they are supposed to be 305 ho heads will they work for now? It was already carbed when I got it. Everything else is stock. Please no aluminum upgrade comments just tying to get this thing running it needs so much tlc. Thanks

601's I think are tiny 53cc combustion chambered heads. Do you know what heads you are taking off? How much lift your cam has? I think the stock 84 heads were 76cc. (I could be wrong) So putting 53cc heads on there might not be such a good idea. Even if piston/valve clearance would be ok, if it's at around 9:1cr w/76cc heads, putting 53's on there would bring it up to the 11.5 to 12:1 range.
