84 outside rear view mirror
I can get up and down to work no left and right I need to get this switch out. I tried spraying it from the front not working.I had the console bezel off and cant figure out what has to come apart. Does the whole plastic inner part lift out? Theres a few hex head screws but along both sides of the console cover it looks like the lid hange has to be removed to get to one of them. But something is holding it closer to the middle, rear ofg the shifter and forward of the coin holder. Is it the toggle switch screws?
When I had it out I had both motors turning with a 12v battery in the house. I used the center pin on the motor row in the connector, as a common. Switched my hot wire to both ends and each end activated a motor.
In the car before I put it in, testing the connector that goes inside, I got 12v to the center pin with the joystick in up and in down position.
No 12v to the other end of the row on that connector. I heard a real faint click though with the joystick pushed left or right. I checked across the row of pins and got 12v in oposite polarities with the joystick left and right.
It seems like the left and right motor is trying to get its current through the other motor and not getting enough current. Due to a miswiring somewhere. One end in the car side connector seems to be common, rather than the center like it is in the motor connector.
Now, is the wiring different for different years? Or is my head playing tricks on me? Maybe I can switch the pins in the housing. I know how to pull out molex pins with a piece of an old telescoping antenna.
In fact when I was doing voltage tests I ws getting about 6 volts from the center pin to the outside one I thought was the left right connection. It must have been dropping voltage across the up down motor because its wired wrong.
Again, is it maybe from a different year than 84 and have a different pinout?
Passenger side mirror works correct in all directions.
