I made a video with the problems im havong. How do I upload it? The car is a 1988 medium blue metallic exterior and interior. 60742 on odo. Thanks in advance!
I suggest breaking up the issues and making separate posts. It gets too complex to try to make suggestions on multiple problems.
Some random thoughts: the antenna not working could be related to the radio (which tells the antenna to go up when it's turned on and down when it's turned off). Check the RADIO fuse. The CTSY/CLK fuse also goes to the radio (it's always powered so it remembers your station settings).
On some rear view mirrors there is a small light that shines down on the console all the time, which could be what you're seeing (mine does that, but I think the head lights have to be on).
When the turn signals are on the white side lights should stay on. The amber side lights blink. Try the 4 way flasher and see how the lights work. You might have a bulb with filaments shorted together.
The turn signal light staying on might be light bleed from the dash backlighting. Does it change when you turn the dimmer control on the headlight switch? See above about shorted bulb filaments...
The mirror light threw me off because it wasnt on my 89. The turn indicator is only on when I pull the headlight **** out ( even for the fog lights)
I bought a fuse kit with a tester so ill dig into those tomorrow. The radio clock will come on every once in awhile so could that be a bad ground somewhere?
The weatherstripping is shot but is there some other way moisture could be getting into the car? I didnt drive it today but when I was leaving for work I noticed the windows were all fogged up.
The turn signal light coming on with the headlights is likely a bad ground at one of the sockets on that side.
Pull the radio and see if it's even connected. Often someone will have an aftermarket radio, then remove it when they sell it. Sometimes the connectors for the original radio have been cut off.
Take it to a self-wash and run a pressure spray over the car to find any WS leaks.
I suspect that when you open the hatch you will see the WS split at the front corners. Fortunately it is a relatively simple job to replace that WS.
Pick up a copy of the GM service manual by HELM; it is a (red) two-volume set with electrical info in the 2nd volume. This is the ONLY manual to use for service of our cars, IMO.
Yes the WS leaks on all 4 corners. Ill buy the kit and attempt it. Lucky for me DIY projects are relaxing for me ( even if im not very good at them ).
The radio gets power, I get static and popping noises if I turn the treble and bass up and down. The power antenna doesn't go up or down but the motor spins.
The clock initially was blank. Then it showed 01:00. This was the norm on every start and it would not change the length of the drive. Easter subday the clock read 02:34 on start up and didnt change. I unhooked the battery for 2 days. I hooked it back up last night and the clock read only 3 numbers, 0:54 also didnt change throughout the drive.
The power antenna doesn't go up or down but the motor spins.
Since the motor runs it's likely the link between motor & mast is broken, these are available for replacement.
If all the radio/clock fuses are ok and all wires are connected you will likely need to send the unit our for repair or replace it with an aftermarket unit.
