Hi
check the following website out, look down the page and there is lots of information.

http://www.batee.com/

Do your instrument light come on during the day? when you shine a flashlight beam at the small hole on the left above the speed display bar graph? there is a photocell sensor that brightens the dash to suit the light conditions.

At night the lights can be adjusted via the light switch, mine is almost always fully anticlockwise as i like a bright instrument cluster. Once set to your taste you do not need to adjust the brightness again.

There are 4 light globes (special halogen globes) i recommend you upgrade to the xenon type as they do not run as hot, the later c4 had them as standard.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/84-89-CORVETTE-DASH-INSTRUMENT-CLUSTER-LAMPS-BULBS-XENON-Replaces-882-halogen-/281217367302?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3ACorvette&hash=item4179dc7d06&vxp=mtr
So you have to determine if the lights work have they blown or is the headlight switch faulty(for night time) and is the photocell working for daytime brightness adjustment.

Lights work during day.If turn **** to right they would come on at night, now if I do that they don't come on and the lights to radio and heater turn off I haven't used a flash light in the censor but I'll try it.its that little square at top right of dash?

Hi again
Have checked my shop manual, the headlight switch sends power to the fuse block (inst fuse 3 amp) from there a grey wire goes to the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster uses the photocell to adjust brightness daytime only and at night via the headlight switch variable resistance.

So check your fuses but it will make day or night dark if that instrument fuse has blown.

Am 99 percent sure the headlight switch is bad.

so either the fuse has blown or the headlight switch resistance dial is bad and you need to replace the headlight switch.

Good luck
