I am thinking of a 94 and have a lead on a 38K mile car. I am concerned , however, about any shortage of critical parts like ignition and other electrical components. Had a nightmare problem with my C5 vert pictured here.
Thanks,
Dave

There's likely all kind of horror stories that could get passed around but enjoying it and the repairs that are involved are actually only complicated by the knowledge of the owner and his/her capabilities. It's no different than any other car that's 20 years old. 38K and maintained well - I'd think of no reasons to not if it's what you were looking for. Options? A4 or 6MT?
As far as new parts, you will probly be ok with the '94. The earlier year cars went thru a bunch of evolution in the first 4 or 5 years. My '85 has a bunch of 1 year parts that are kinda hard to track sometimes. With the Corvette specialty sellers and folks on eBay selling old NORS stuff I can generally find what I need.
Go ahead and grab that car!! Post up some picks and hang around with the C4 nut cases!

This encouragement is very helpful. I suppose one can always find a part if you dig hard enough.
I heard the Optispark is a a bit of a disaster. Does it use individual coils like my C5? This car is for the girlfriend, but I will end up fixing it.
It is an A4 with standard base suspension and manual AC. Not heavily optioned. Has PD seat and the normal power stuff. Real nice car

Too get C4 parts all that is required is a credit card and telephone call.
Some parts might be high, but you can get them.
I collect 1974-1992 Rear Drive Cadillacs and its a real challenge to find parts, not to mention chrome plating has become outrageous in price, and not many plating folks left. The 74-76 have more parts available that 77-92.
But what the heck GM has crappy parts support for 2014 vehicles.
Parts are not a problem as far as opti it all depends who you talk to from some experience gm vehicles where the plugs and wires have been maintained the opti will last a long time. Age hurts electronic parts and optis are no different that is why you here so much about them now.
