Default Nitto NT555 tires, comments

I am looking to purchase new tires for the rear. Looking for 315 35 17s. Anyone here using these tires and what do you think of them. Also is there an alternate for the same price. (not sumitoma)

I have them for the front on my 1985. I just put them on over the weekend and haven't had a chance to drive it yet.

I have the Nitto NT 555R drag radials for the rear.

My Auto Tech instructor has the same tires I believe, or he might have 555 all around, but regardless, he said he likes them and they're sticky and good in rain and snow too.

I'd go for the drag radials in the rear if you want some traction, I hear these are supposed to be really sticky, but they only last like 15k miles.

Just some things to consider.

I've had those tires for two years. Ok tires and a good price. Not many choices in that size. They are much better than the sumitomas I had before.

I have them all the way around on my 93 vett. I really like them, good grip for a street tire, quiet, nice looking tread and not too expensive. 315's on the rear, 275 on the front, you really need 11" rims for the 315's. I believe you will like them

A very common tire used with C4's with the majority of owners liking them (myself included). I actually got mine at Walmart for a great price and they installed them with no problem, although I brought the rims in as I didn't want them actually driving my Vette.

I just put them on my 96 all the way around. Far superior ride and handling compared to the previous Sumitomos

I have them in size 315x17" and love the superior ride, less noise, and increase in grip. I got them for much less than the $330 good year ds3's.

I also have these tires. They came on my 1995 when I bought it. So far pretty happy with them.

Does nitto buy old molds from the big name companies after they stop production of an older 17" uhp size?

Perhaps put new tread plates into the mold so that they dont infringe on any design pattern patents?

I have the 275 Nitto555 all around my 1996, very nice tires. One of the qualities that stand out is the tracking. On the C4 with the 275 in the front I have noticed in the past that some tires follow the ridges and grooves in the road causing more steering correction. The 555's track very true and straight

The NT-05 has a 200 treadwear vs 300 for the NT555 so it should be stickier.
