Default 85 antenna long delay to go down

Thanks in advance for the help.

85 non-bose, aftermarket radio.

Antenna often stays up for as long as a day before going back down. Always does eventually and sometime does right away.

There seems to be a time-delay somewhere in the antenna circuit. Is this by design? Does this sound like a bad relay, or something in the antenna motor?

There should be no delay. Might be a bad relay or a wiring problem.

Hopefully your nylon antenna cord is not broken. If that happens sometimes the motor will run continuously trying to lower the antenna. That can run down your battery.

No motor running. If there is not supposed to be any delay, I have an electrical problem. Time to break out the VOM.
