I recently purchased a 1992 Corvette Coupe. 12,800 miles. 6speed.
Car is almost flawless.
One issue that I am having is that the rear p/s speaker chirps. The rear d/s speaker does not work @ all. And there is no sound coming out of front p/s speaker as well.
I would find it hard to believe they are all blown. The previous owner was very meticulous and would not have cranked system all the way up.
I have "basic" mechanical skills so I was comfortable removing rear speaker cover. No frayed or dried out wires. No loose connections.
Need to know if its the Bose style or regular system. The Bose Gold series has each speaker with its own power supply and the capacitors are known to dry out and go bad. If it is the Bose system then do a forum search and you will find several ways of repairing them which is either replacing the caps yourself or sending them out to be rebuilt..
The problem almost certainly lies in the capacitors of the individual amplifiers. Over time, they tend to leak and corrode the circuit boards. There are a few places that can perform the repairs or, if you're handy with a soldering gun you can buy replacement capacitors and do it yourself. You can also buy complete replacement amplifiers, but I would be careful with that since most of those are manufactured in China and likely will prove worthless. I recommend you check out this website, then decide if you want to go this route. These guys definitely understand the Bose Gold System that is giving you trouble. Take some time to review their videos (which are also on You Tube) and you will see that removing the speakers and the amps is really not very difficult.
