Is this the CAGS connector plug?

Changing the ZF6 oil on this car for the first time, noticed this plug disconnected:

Is this the CAGS "skip shift" connector, the same plug in question in this thread?

The one in the thread above looks slightly different than mine and I want to be sure it's OK to leave unplugged. I like being able to select whatever gear I want. Thank you in advance for quick replies!

Yes is the skip shift solenoid connector

Good, thank you.

So if the skip shift system can be defeated simply by disconnecting this plug, why are people buying these (link)?

cuz they like waste money on stupid gadget...its just a"plug" on the connector for 18 bucks...

I think 89-95 you can unplug it without issues, but 96 cars will set a code unless you get one of these plugs (or tune to eliminate the code).

One more question: Should I wrap the exposed contacts with tape, or maybe coat them with dielectric grease and wrap a baggie around each of them then secure with a wire tie, to preserve them? I don't plan to keep the car forever and perhaps the next owner will want the skip shift to be active.
