My 93 Door locks don't work. The driver side is very hard to unlock with the key. The passenger side is not much better. The FOB tries to lock and unlock the doors but they are too stiff. The question is, can i clean all the hardware with brake cleaner, spray PB Blaster on all mechanical linkage, then use WD 40 to lubricate the linkage.? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Use whatever you like to clean them and loosen the trash (WD40) should do that well and when you're done use a quality white lithium grease to do the lubrication. Does well for the latch mechanism, pins and bushings as well.
Are you intending to do the key-way in the cylinder also? If so I'd just clean/flush it with some contact cleaner, let dry and use some correct key cylinder graphite when dried and flushed a couple times.
