Default what grade bolts for runners and plenum?

I have to replace my runner and plenum bolts but can't find any replacements. My stock bolts say 10.9 on the head but I can't find any replacements and especially in stainless or chrome. I painted my runners and plenum black and I'd like some contrast if I can find nice replacements. Any help?

I believe 10.9 might be overkill but I would think some 12 point flange head in 8.8 might do well. Never tried but I've used a good bit of 12 point and I prefer it to most. You can do them in stainless also and I'm sure chrome.

Button head also shouldn't be a problem in chrome and metric. You can do all the way to 12.9 if you actually wanted.

Thanks for the replies. If I can get away with grade 5 that would be convenient. I seen the eBay kits but I need the bolts before they can be shipped.

These bolts are going into aluminum with a low torque value. grade 5 is more than enough. More important is to be sure that you coat the bolt threads with anti-seize!!!

I found a place that sells polished stainless steel Torx bolts, but you have to buy at least 100 pieces of each size, so that wasn't feasible.

There are stainless Allen head bolt kits available for Corvettes.

The local screw and bolt store has a nice selection of Allen head bolts. It's not a Fastenal store, but the local equivalent, McFadden-Dale Industrial Hardware. McFadden and Dale are the street names of the original location but they have several branches now.

Grade 5 is NOT a metric class - Metric class base is 8.8 - You mentioned runners and runner hardware is metric, intake to cylinder heads are 3/8-16

All of the M8X1.25 lengths in black 12pt are available here and single piece quantities:

They also have chrome socket head and black socket head.

ARP sells, or least they did a couple years ago, hardware for the TPI Intake. I purchased the kit. There were a coule that didn't match up as far as length, but I just cut those to make them work.

Thanks all! I went to my local tractor supply and found some stainless steel hex bolts. I seen that kit on eBay but I need the bolts as soon as possible. The only problem with the bolts I found is that one of the longer runner bolts is just a bit longer than the closest one I could find. It's maybe three threads off so should I not even try it or will it be ok?

Just grind or cut the extra threads off.

Also, screw a nut on the bolt first then after the threads are cut, you can thread the nut down and restore the threads on the end of the bolt.

Sorry there was a misunderstanding there, the new bolt is shorter than the original bolt.

Oh, Sorry I misread!...

If you can thread the bolt in at least 3-4 turns, that will be enough.
