Default Need upgrade advice on 1990 L98

I need some sagely advice from the masters here.

I'm upgrading my 1990 L98 and have a question.

Here's what I've done: TPIS Headers, Y pipe, and 1.6 RR's.
I have the Moates APU-1 and did the tune so I can handle that.

Here's what I have on the way: TPIS Big mouth, AS&M runners. Will port plenum before re-installation.

Here's my question: When I have the intake off the heads are right there. I was thinking of having the stock 113 heads ported/rebuilt/valve job, etc. With the stock cam running 1.6 RR's is this worth it or can the stock 113 heads handle what I'm doing. I think I can handle the head's myself, but probably not the cam.

Any ideas?

I do have the money for after market heads, but I like the 113 58cc chambers and I think I can get the CFM on the stock ported head to line up with the flow of the rest of the intake.
Regardless of which I decide to so, is the stock cam going to make any of it a waste of money?

Its a given that you will get more out of your head mods with a better cam.. not certain the head work would be a wash without changing the cam though, im sure you will see some improvement even with a stock cam.

Combination is really important too.. when you piece things together one at a time you almost always end up spending more in the long run.. If you get those 113s worked on and set up right you can get some good results.. but it may rival the cost of a good set of aftermarket heads. There are things to do about compression if your worried about the 64cc chambers.

Im sure you will get some good feed back on the head work w stock cam shortly.. There are some really sharp guys on here.

With the investment in head work I would go the extra mile and install a nice cam, zz409 cam from TPiS comes to mind.

Personally I would change the cam out to get the most out of the heads after you work them over.

But I think the stock flow will be plenty for the current cam and planned intake changes.

Mild cam upgrade to compliment all that air. Personally I wouldn't use a Y-pipe. Go true dual exhaust.
