ZZ9 cam
TPIS headers
And my heads goin to be ported. Its going to be a "cheap" porting, just take away som material on them, and smooth things out.
And this winter a miniram and new rims are going in the car :)
The programing is done by Ed Wright.
I also thougt about going to singel mass FW.
You think the headers, cam, and head will give me 50hp with the stock TPI?
Re: This is what I order today, yeah :) (devilfish)
pushrods, timing chain, might want to do roller rockers since you have it all apart. if your going to put the stock TPI back on at least port the base. just some cartrage rolls and a electric drill will do the job. summit racing sells about everything you could need. also ship international, there number is 1-800-230-3030. also you've seen pics on how to port your upper plenum right? there's some cfm to be gained in the TPI setup. the majority of flow in the heads is in the bowl and turn radius right next to it. oh gosh that reminds me, NEW VALVES. the manely pro-flo necked down valves are $152usd and have MUCH better flow potential than the stock junkers. i'd say valve springs and all that but TPIS is sending you some with the cam i'm guessing.
Re: This is what I order today, yeah :) (devilfish)
that's a great question i didn't have any valve seals in my heads when i tore them apart. i have to go down to the machine shop today i'll try & remember to ask my engine builder about our heads and what the deal with seals is. my guides and seats were in great shape but when i tore the head apart there were no seals on the stem.
Re: This is what I order today, yeah :) (devilfish)
..and what else parts should I change wile I have the heads off?
Everything....
Seriously, the L98 cylinder heads are known for having mega valve guide wear. Get new guides pressed in and get at least a 3-angle valve job as the vavle seats will HAVE to be ground when putting in new guides. The guides themsevles cost about $75.
You will need new springs for the ZZ9. You may want to think about Titanium retainers and 10* locks also. The retainers are super strong and light. They will run about $140. You will gain a couple hundred RPM at the top end more with them. Also valve spring shims will most likely be required in order for the springs to be installed at the correct valve height.
Have your intake and exhaust valves inspected. If you want to reuse them you can, but now is the time to change if you want to do it right. I am running 2.02" intake Manley Pro-Flow valves and 1.6" exhaust valves. The 2.02" valves will require new valve seats to be installed completely in a stock head. I think you can grind the stock seats to 2.00". Ask first, I forget right now.
Also are you going with roller rockers? If so go with 7/16" rocker studs. They will completely the stronger valvetrain and keep it from flexing also giving you some usable RPM.

I dont know about the RR, I have heard both good and bad about go with 1,6 rr. The guy thats doing the head job says that I will loose hp if I go with the 1,6 RR. And some guys here say that 1,6 rr is the way to go. I think I will keep the stock r for now.
I already orded new springs. You mention valve spring shims? Do I need those?
I added new guides.
If the vavles look ok, I tought of reuse them, is that a bad ide?
