Default IAC Interchange and Compatibility

Looking for IAC's for my 84 I see that they average $90, however according to some websites the same part # 17078832, is used on a few GM engines, 83 Camaro for example which is a lot cheaper. Did GM use the same part on several engines? To save money can I buy a Camaro IAC that's half the price? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I am on a budget. Thanks for the help

Go to RockAuto as well to compare part numbers. If they all are the same then you should be good to go. I am using an '87 Camaro IAC on my '85 Vette. The General isnt going to make a bunch of different parts to do the same thing.

That's what I thought too, when you look at these iac's for the 82,83,84 GM cars they all look the same except a few have a cone shaped nose and some have a blunt nose. they look like they should all do the same job, control the amount of air entering tb. So I bought one off ebay that was 1/2 the price of the one listed for a 84 vette.
