I'm hunting down little quirks on my '94 6 speed. I'd like to look at a live data stream to see what some parameters look like while the car is running. My question to you all is after doing some research I can't come to a better conclusion: do I hunt down an older OBD1 scanner that has live data capability or do I just get an ALDL to USB and get some software on my laptop?
Post back and let us know what you end up with. I have an Autoxray (7000) that'll capture live data in my 94. I can select parameters, triggers etc, somits ok for some stuff but the post log graphing/analysis functionality is crap. ( the older 4000 was better) I'm thinking that software is a better choice too.
Just ordered the cable, gonna grab the software as well. Hopefully the cable will be here next week and I can get a good look at what's going on. I've been hunting down a higher idle (around 900rpm) and a stumble or misfire that is getting worse everyday. Driving around today I would put my foot on it and it will barely pull forward.
I'm bumping this thread up since I just got the cable in. Hopefully I'll have a chance to go for a ride and do some data logging tomorrow if the weather behaves. I'll post back with my experience with using the cable, and some different data logging/tuning programs. (I'm gonna start a different thread to chronicle my repair(s)) Then I can give a definite opinion on the experience. Thanks for the input so far everyone, I appreciate it.
