I have a 94 Corvette. The transmission has recently started to leak. I purchased the car about six months ago. The previous owner had the transmission rebuilt including a new torque converter 2 years ago. The car has only 5k on the rebuilt transmission. I live in the Charlotte NC area looking for a trustworthy mechanic to work on it. I have had several different quotes on the issue. The quotes on work are all over the place. The leak seems to be coming from the inspection plate about located behind the main oil plug drain. Thanks again.
If you have access to a set of jackstands or a rack, get the car up and see exactly where the leak is coming from. If it is gunked up under there, clean it off with Brakekleen and run it a little bit. If it is coming from the inspection plate area and not the pan gasket or filler tube grommet, then the tranny has to be dropped to replace the front seal. Whatever, you need to make sure where the source of the leak is. If you are lucky, it might be the pan gasket which is pretty easy and inexpensive to fix. Good luck.

Yeah I had a local shop put it on a rack. They said it was leaking from pan. Had them replace pan seal. After they were finishing up, they mentioned that they suspect it was leaking from inspection plate area as well. iam pretty sure now that it was leaking from the inspection plate area all along. Thanks again.
