Transmission...rebuild or replace?
My 92 700R4 is beginning to slip in OD while accelerating. If I get in it at all in D, I get a shutter...this happens only after it gets into OD. So, I figure it's just about time. I don't race the car and other than an occassional craziness (I'm 58...give me a break!), am a pretty sane driver. Should I go with one of the aftermarket trannies (not for racing..but I would like a slightly firmer shift), or just have mine rebuilt with a shift kit? R Thoughts?

I would probably get a new 700R4, ive had bad experience with rebuilds. Not a beefed up one, just a regular GM 700R4.

You should be able to get a good rebuild and shift kit installed for around $1,200.
I just had my 700R/4 rebuilt and shift kit installed; what an improvement.

I would agree that not all rebuilds are equal. I have about 1500 miles on the tranny I rebuilt and so far so good. I know I did alot of things that the typical shop would not have done. Having said that I'd recommend a GM remanufactored tranny from a Chevy dealer. I was quoted about $1300.00 w/warranty.
