Code 43? electronic spark control failure what does this mean?
Hi, my service engine soon light came on real briefly while driving today. It has went out after 5 seconds, and has not come back on. Car has been re-started a couple times, no SES light again.
I hooked up my Auto X-ray scan tool and scanned the computer with the car idling. Previously where the tool would say 'no trouble codes set', it now says 'Code 43 Electronic Spark Control Failure', or something like that.
Any ideas what this might be? My opti is new as of 10/01, and my ignition coil is new as of 1/02. The module behind it has not been replaced...
Do you think this code is real or false?
If it turns out this code is false, how long will it come up as a trouble code? When will it reset itself?
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Diz,
It's the little module next to the coil. I think they are about 70 bucks at the dealer. I'd check the connection considering the car still is running...

Code 43 I thought was the knock sensor circuit? Check ECM wiring and or replace knock sensor. Let me know if I'm wrong. Thanks 84 CF 91 ZR-1 :confused:
