Bought an X brace from a vert want to mount on my 96 coupe how difficult have all mounting bolts, looked underneath see that holes for the front but none in the rear. Can someone give me some advise as to will this x brace increase the handling and is it worth the trouble.
You will have to drill holes at the rear corners and use nutserts to be able to bolt the X-brace in place. IIRC, there are two bolts per corner. When the 'vert frame was built. the nuts were encapsulated on the inside of the frame rail.
The convertible also had studs that went thru the bottom of the floor pan that fit through the holes in the rear half of the X-brace. This provided additional rigidity to the body.
One thing about the X-brace installed on the coupe is that you will lose an inch or so of ground clearance. The 'verts sat slightly higher because of the brace.
There are 4 bolts at each corner, plus the 2 smaller studs on each side just behind the "X". You will need the aluminum spacers for the back, or fabricate them.
