Rough start up when hot
When engine temps are up to about 200+ and I try to start the car, it doesnt want to stay running. I have to keep on the gas for about 20 seconds and then it will return to a normal idle and run properly. During those 20 seconds it sounds like its stumbling maybe missing and puts out black smoke from exhaust. Im thinking fuel pressure regulator or ignition coil, thoughts?

I have a similar issue with our '84, which was the last year of throttle body injection, but I suspect the problem - TBI or TPI - might just be vapor lock. Not sure there's a great solution for it, but it can be annoying. I'll be interested to see what others suggest.

A bad coolant temperature sensor (the one located on the front of the intake manifold) or wiring problem will cause this problem (a corroded pin in the connector or broken wire). If the ECM thinks the engine is cold it will richen the mixture to help the engine run better.
