I have broken u-joints and aftermarket hardened rear spindles myself. If you are using an unforgiving clutch like a McCleod twin disk or stage 3 SPEC then these parts will break when you do big clutch dumps running slicks. I have friends that have split rear ends (D44).

Chris @ Speed Demon is working on a solution for the rear spindles right now. I can't imagine what the next weakest link in the chain is. Halfshafts, driveshaft, tranny? I have seen the pic of Phil's brother than had the 400+ cid C4 that twisted the halfshaft. Now that was impressive.

I also know my transmission really growls when throwing over 650 rear wheel torque through it at the track. Not sure what the real life breaking point of the tranny is yet, but it is rated at the factory for 450 (I assume flywheel).
