I'm going to finally have time to work on my car this weekend and need to pinpoint exactly what's wrong. It started out simple enough, I was changing oil and when I finished the car wouldn't go into gear so I checked the fluid level and it was way low so i'm thinking air in the system so I bled the slave cylinder at least 3 or 4 times, still no change. I then checked the travel at the fork, should be .7 and I i'm getting like .685 so i'm thinking that should be ok. I only have 27k on this car so I have a hard time believing it's the clutch but it seems like everything is pointing in that direction. Is there something i'm not seeing or do I need to drop the Tranny
As always Thanks for the Help :yesnod:
I sometimes get a few more bubbles out by removing the slave and pointing the bleeder straight up (as per Helms). But you say you're getting good travel....
I have moved a linkage arm enough that the tranny was in 2nd and the shifter was in neutral - wouldn't go into any gear up top. Might check that all three arms are in neutral at the tranny and the shifter has full side to side.
Is the fork engaged properly on the ball pivot? I think you can see that with the slave boot out of the way.
Re: low fluid
A leaking slave cylinder is not uncommon for an '86 - time is evidently more harsh than miles on this part. With more and more discontinued parts (last year the wheel cylinder kits went bye-bye), you may want to grab a rebuild kit.
