Bosch vs Delphi fuel pump
. Replacing these parts is a good idea on a 24 year old vehicle..This is just my preference , I'm sure the Delphi would work fine......WWHere's the kit::

Walbro fuel pump is the way to go. Search the internet to find the best price and shipping rates. The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
After my 88 arrived and was rolled out of the shipping container it refused to start, I couldn't hear the fuel pump going thru it's 2 second initial prime, so I was pretty sure the problem was a fuel pump failure.
The car still had 3/4's of a tank of Florida fuel in it.
Once I got the car home I removed the pump, it had already started to corrode externally and applying power directly to the pump only resulted in a click, the pump was pretty much seized.
Going thru the documents/service records from the PO, revealed that the pump had only been replaced 6 months earlier with a Delco pump.
I installed the Delphi pump and the car started and ran perfectly.
However about 2 weeks later the car wouldn't start, and again I had no fuel pump prime. I removed the pump and bench tested it and it worked fine, but it was showing some initial signs of corrosion after only being in the Florida fuel for 2 weeks.
I reinstalled it and the car again started and ran with no problems, this time I drained the Florida fuel and refilled with fresh no ethanol fuel, haven't had a problem since.
Sounds like the Florida fuel in your tank, might have been old or had water in it hence, the external corrosion...
The Delphi fuel pump I installed, has been fine for over two years driven daily. None, of the fuel pumps I removed ever had any corrosion on it.
If the Ethanol fuel was the problem, every cars fuel pump would be failing.

After I drained the contents of the tank, I poured it into a clear container, I couldn't find any evidence of water in the fuel.
From what I've been told, the ethanol fuel goes 'off' quite quickly and starts to break down, and it's not a good idea to leave it sitting in the tank for too long.
I think my car just had old fuel in it, I suspect it was possibly 3-4 months old, maybe older but I can't be sure.
Whatever the problem was, I didn't have any further issues once I put fresh fuel in the tank.
The old fuel I ended up feeding to an old piece of crap lawnmower that I don't care too much about, it ran on it ok........but it would probably run on kerosine if it had to.
